2004 Infiniti G35 Key Fob Programming
Updated 2026 Programming, battery & replacement fob
You can program a 2004 Infiniti G35 key fob yourself in a few minutes using a working key or remote, no dealer visit needed. Follow the steps below, then check the battery and the correct replacement fob (with FCC ID and part number) if you need a new one.
Remote / key fob programming
You can program Nissan remote-head keys yourself by cycling the key in the ignition. Have every remote with you — any you don't program during this procedure will stop working.
Before you start
- Every remote (any not programmed now will go inactive)
- 1Close and lock all doors using the power-lock switch on the driver's door.
- 2Insert the key into the ignition (don't turn it) and pull it out — at least 6 times within 10 seconds, about one second apart, until the hazard lights flash. It can take 10–12 tries; pull the key fully out each time. Too fast or too slow won't work.
- 3Insert the key and turn it to ACC.
- 4Within 5 seconds, press LOCK once on the remote. The hazards flash. (Press it only once, or it won't take.)
- 5For each additional remote: unlock then lock the doors with the driver's-door switch, and within 5 seconds press LOCK on the next remote. The hazards flash. Repeat for every remote, including working ones.
- 6Turn the key to OFF, remove it, unlock the doors with the switch, and open the driver's door. Test all remotes.
Key programming
Professional programming required
This key fob can't be programmed with a do-it-yourself procedure. The vehicle needs a diagnostic tool connected to its OBD port to pair a new fob, so a replacement has to be set up by an automotive locksmith or a dealer.
Order the correct replacement fob below — match the FCC ID on your current fob first — then have a local automotive locksmith or the dealer program it to your vehicle.
Replacement key fob
Match the FCC ID printed on the back of your existing fob to be sure of the right part.
Transponder Key
Find on Amazon2004 Infiniti G35 key fob battery
A plain transponder (chip) key has no battery. The immobilizer chip inside is powered by the car's ignition ring whenever you turn the key, so there's nothing to replace. If your key also has lock/unlock buttons, that remote portion uses a 3V coin cell — see the remote battery steps for that.
Battery tips
- If your engine won't start but the key turns, the issue is usually a worn key or the immobilizer reading the chip — not a battery.
- A spare chip key must be cut and programmed to your car before it will start the engine.
